SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS EASY TO FOLLOW

Required tools: leveler

1. Setting-Up your clock
Ensure that your clock is stabilized in a way that it cannot tip over or wobble. Verify its level, and if necessary, make adjustments on the levelers. The clock’s good working order is dependent on this step.

2. Installing pendulum
Softly, remove the tape that holds the pallet arm. Hang the pendulum by the suspension rod, which has a slot that prevents the pendulum from moving forward or backward. Center the thin metal strip in the slot so that the pendulum can swing freely without any friction. If necessary, move the suspension rod forward or backward by unscrewing the knob that holds it. Do not forget to retighten it. Ensure that the small brass rod connecting the pallet arm is inserted into the opening provided on the pendulum arm. Before starting the pendulum swinging, please refer to point 6.

3. Installing weights
The weights are made out of lead and therefore are quite heavy. Handle them with care, and work with only one at a time. Dropping them could not only damage them, but also cause injury. It is important to never release the tension on the cables because they could unwind and get tangled. You would then have to carefully rewind the cables onto the drum, ensuring that you avoid intertwining them (see the cable rewinding procedure, page 16). Put the weights on each side of the clock. Verify the alignment of cables. They must be centered on each of the four pulleys. Ensure that the two small pulleys (on the bottom) line up with the corresponding half of the drum. While maintaining a firm tension on the cable on one side of the clock, remove the rubber band that connects the hook to the structure, and then hook on the first weight. Repeat the same procedure to install the other weight.

4. Raising weights
Raising the weights must be done about every five days. Do not try to lift the weights while raising them as this will release the tension on the cable and you risk tangling it. Turn the winder to the right (clockwise), never counterclockwise as this could damage the mechanism.
a) Position the engaging gear in a way that it engages with the engage the lift gear.
b) Turn the winder. This raises the weights to the top.
c) Disengage the engaging gear (after having raised the weights to the top do not forget to disengage the engaging gear because otherwise the clock will not function).

5. Adjusting clock hands
To set the clock’s time, turn the minute hand to the right or left depending on the desired position while gently holding the minute hand in the center.

6. Starting clock
Before moving the pendulum, always verify the positioning of the pallet. If one of the pallet tips is resting on a cog of the escape wheel, move the pendulum in the opposite direction. Avoid exerting any pressure as this would result in the pallet losing its adjustment setting. To start your clock, gently bring the pendulum (about 3” / 7cm) to the side to which the pallet tip is free. Let it go, allowing it to swing. Your clock is now in operation. If there are any problems, please consult the adjustment chart.

7. Regulating clock speed
To adjust the clock speed, all you have to do is raise or lower the pendulum, (consult the adjustment chart). Regulating the clock speed is your responsibility and not that of the dealer or Service Center. If you encounter difficulties with the clock’s working order, please consult the adjustment chart, or if further help is needed telephone or write our Customer Service Department.

Care and maintenance ( font-size: 12 px )

Generally, your clock needs little care. However, we would recommend your following the below-mentioned recommendations if you wish to keep your clock in good condition and be able to benefit from it for many years.

1. Regularly clean your clock with a damp cloth. Remove dust from the mechanisms with a vacuum cleaner. Never use cleaning products or put water on the gears.

2. Once a year, as you would normally care for your other wooden furniture, wax and polish the wooden structure of the clock (not the mechanism). Use liquid wax or a silicone-free paste wax.

3. Once a year oil the bearings found on each side of the drum of the clock. One drop on each is sufficient. Use only good quality light oil (e.g. sewing machine oil). Never use household oils.

4. Once a year, or more often if you live in a dry area, use a small brush and apply petroleum gel to the cogs of each wheel and to the two pallet tips. Do not spray the movement with a lubricant.

5. Each time you move your clock, use a level to make sure that it is level. Its good-working order is dependent on this. If it is sitting on carpet, occasionally verify the level because over time carpet can get packed down and the level will change.

6. Occasionally verify the weights to make sure that the hooks remain well attached.

7. If you are going away for a long period of time, it is recommended to remove the weights and replace them with lighter weights (such as cups). This will help prolong the life of the cable.

8. Because of the continued tension put on the cable by the weights, it is recommended to change it every two years. If the weights were to fall, they could damage the clock or cause injury.
